Peter Curley constructed our home at Witta Circle Noosa Heads. The cost was in the order of $5.5 million.
We couldn’t have been happier with Peter and the service that he offers both as a builder and a gentleman.
Our home is terrific. The attention to detail is superb. The finish is exquisite.
Peter and his team were nothing but a delight to deal with. We had no issues with the build and yes, there were some variations that we discussed, planned for and approved. Let’s be fair, it’s to be expected with building!
The job was completed ahead of schedule and was completed with no issue. The follow up from Pete has been superb since completion.
Peter is very well organised. Everything seemed to run in order and on time.
I will never forget one Saturday afternoon in the wet season when it was pouring rain. Pete needed some earth moved before a concrete pour on the Monday. Here old mate was, shovel in hand, doing it himself. And therein lies the beauty of having your builder still on the tools.
I am sure that some of our requests and concerns drove the man mad, but we always got the same answer. “No dramas”.
Pete is to be recommended for any job. If he says he will do something, you can be guaranteed that it will be done.
It has been a pleasure to work with Pete. I’m not sure that his contractors would say the same as he does give them a bit of a flogging if they are not up to scratch. In saying that, there is not one of them that didn’t respect the man and the way he operates.
We would be delighted to share our experience with you and our home if you want. Please just organise it through Pete.

It is with great pleasure that I give this personal and professional reference for Peter Curley.
Peter Curley was one of nine builders invited to tender for the demolition of our existing beach house and construction of our new family home on Noosa Sound. I had heard horror stories from friends who had built on the Sunshine Coast - grey hairs, near divorces, not talking to their builders by the end of their projects, builders going broke and poor workmanship. Having only ever renovated two bathrooms in the history of our marriage we were understandably incredibly nervous about embarking on such a project.
Having a brief for a bedroom for each of our four children together with guest accommodation our build also involved a complexity not yet seen for a residential property in Noosa - underground and hence underwater parking for four cars!
When I enquired of our architect, Tim Ditchfield, of how the tender process was going Peter’s name was always the topic of conversation. He asked more questions of the engineers and of Tim through the tender process than any other builder - not because he was uncertain of the engineering intricacies but because he wanted to absorb every minute detail. Peter was “all over it” from the outset.
The tender process was complete just prior to Christmas 2012. Whilst price is always a consideration for any client, for us it was not the most important consideration. Our prime concern was sourcing a builder who could literally do the job. The fact that the tender price submitted by Peter Curley Constructions was incredibly close to two of the other builders is also testament to his ability to accurately and fairly estimate his build costs. He had not undercut his price just to secure the project.
Upon meeting the shortlisted builders to inspect some of their previous works, I was immediately impressed with Peter. I could sense his genuine excitement about our project. That this was more than “just another job”. His tender package was the most professional of all those received. He included multiple references and all of these spoke of the calibre not only of his workmanship but of the man himself.
There was simply no choice from my point of view. I knew Peter could see our vision for our dream home and that it was a matter of personal pride to help us achieve it. I felt as though Peter were building his own home such was the effort he put into every aspect of its construction.
So few builders are truly “on the tools” these days. I believe this is crucial to the success of any project. Peter was there from dawn until dusk for 18 months. He kept us well informed every step of the way and was highly considerate of the neighbours and the impact any build inevitably has on those in close proximity. He handled a very difficult neighbour with tact. We purchased the property next door after construction commenced and moved in so I could oversee the build process. Over an 18 month build I found Peter to be the same respectful, loveable larrikin from day one to the day the job was completed. My children and family members were all treated This was despite having to negotiate some difficult personal circumstances for both of us.
His tradesman I found to be of a similar ilk to Peter with the same exactingly superb standards he sets for himself. It is no wonder he has forged such lasting relationships with his regular contractors. He worked exceedingly well with our architect, Tim Ditchfield and his attention to detail is quite astounding. I was on site at least weekly for site meetings.
The impeccable build quality of our home is evident at every turn. I am exceedingly proud of what Peter has achieved for us and I know he is too. He is not a man to cut corners nor does he allow it on his worksite. He is honest, dedicated and a man of integrity with an incredible work ethic second to none.
To come to the end of an 18 month build that went, quite simply, without a hitch, is no mean feat. So impressed was I with Peter Curley Constructions and the man himself that I would simply use no other builder for any future project I was to contemplate and would unreservedly recommend him to anyone seeking a highly skilled and accomplished builder to make your own dream home a reality. The fact he is such a great bloke as well is just the icing on the cake!!

Peter Curley Constructions built a house for us in Tewantin last year, and we are very pleased with the result. The two-storey riverside property was built with great skill and care by Peter and his team, and they created a home for us that is a continuing delight to live in.
Peter’s building skills and experience and his commitment to excellence meant that the completed house has won several regional and State awards, for sustainability, use of materials, and quality of building in a sub-tropical coastal climate. We were most impressed with Peter’s ability to improve on each design idea he is presented with, and to achieve high standards of workmanship on all the many details of the structure, exterior and interior, and finishes.
Peter did an outstanding job managing the whole project from start to finish, including a complicated clearance of the site, planning, laying out and completing every step of the construction, and then fitting out and finishing the building, and the landscaping, all in good time and on budget. Pete Curley’s nature and personality meant that it was also an enjoyable process for us.
We were living overseas for much of the time, and were able to rely completely on Peter to organise all aspects of the build, to make good decisions when interpreting design details on site, and to make sound suggestions whenever we proposed additions or variations. We would have no hesitation in recommending Curley Constructions to anyone wanting a house that is built beautifully and delightful to live in.

I have known Peter Curley through three major construction projects from 2004 to 2010. These projects are multi-million dollar works on prestige dwellings in the Noosa Heads and Hinternoosa Area.
I have found Peter to be an excellent professional to work with, dedicated to the projects. Peter has shown the ability to quickly comprehend ideas and instructions and to then complete tasks efficiently and effectively. He is a reliable builder who has used his very strong work ethic and high motivation to respond rapidly to deadlines and to deliver a highly successful construction project.
It was a pleasure having Peter as part of the construction team.

I am pleased to provide this written reference for Peter Curley.
During the construction of our home at Lake Weyba Drive, Noosa on the Sunshine Coast we were residing at Moree NSW. We found Peter to be highly competent and communicated with us continually throughout the building process.
Our home was finished well before the contract period and completed to a high standard.
Periodic visits were made by us to the home during construction to finalise details of the project. These were all completed in a no fuss, timely and precise manner.
We found Peter to be available before, during and after construction to address any areas of concern.
We would like to recommend Peter to future clients wishing to build a quality home.

I contracted Peter Curley to construct my house at the above address. The house is quite large with 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 offices, and a media room, in addition to the usual living areas.
Soil was first turned in January 2009, and we moved in August12 2009; 3 months ahead of schedule. I was absolutely astounded by how quickly the house was completed.
The standard of work, and the finished product was top class. In addition, every small detail and change that we subsequently required has been dealt with in a timely, and (most importantly) a friendly manner.
Peter is reliable, honest, and a man of his word. His personal workmanship, and that of his team is excellent - and you can't ask more of a builder. Numerous visitors have commented on the standard of work in the house.
I have used a number of builders over the past 30 years, all of whom were very good. I would say, however, that Peter has been the best of them all; and if by chance I would ever build again, I would have no hesitation in using his services.

In mid 2006, when drawings were completed for a complex of 5 units we were developing at 20 James Street, Noosaville, designed by local designer Paul Clout, I began the process of appointing a builder to complete the project. I chose various builders to interview who had a reputation from completing quality projects on time. Peter Curley was very easy to communicate with and was very approachable and accommodating during the tender process. After several meetings it was very clear that Pete had a great understanding of the proposed building and the scale of detail and finish which was required to bring it to fruition.
Once the tender was awarded to Peter he wasted no time in beginning the process of construction. He was personally onsite every day and the construction of the units was completed ahead of schedule in an organised manner.
The size of the project required many crane movements, concrete pumps, trucks and many deliveries of associated building products with not one complaint by our neighbouring unit holders beside and adjacent to the building.
Peter continually kept all neighbouring property holders and updated to what was happening in the very narrow street so as to inconvenience them as little as possible.
During the 14 month long process Peter continually kept us informed on the progression of the job. He worked along with the designer Paul Clout, the interior design consultant and our appointed quantity surveyor in a professional and cordial manner, which led to an easy building process.
The finished building was of the highest quality in design and construction which is a credit to Peter for his unwavering attention to the smallest of details which was acknowledged when it was judged to be the best overall project of the year in any category on the Sunshine Coast by the Housing Industry Association and went on to win the HIA Sunshine Coast and Queensland Town House/Villa development of the year and also the Master Builders Sunshine Coast and Queensland Award for a Medium Rise Multi Residential Housing for 2008.
I found Peter to be a very open and honest builder to work with. I personally witnessed Peter on many occasions dealing with suppliers and subcontractors on site in a no fuss manner resulting in an harmonious job site.
After the completion of the project any minor details that required any attention were seen to personally by Peter on most occasions the day they were brought to his attention.
I am extremely pleased with the finished project and would have no hesitation in recommending Peter for future projects.

I am pleased to provide this written reference for Peter Curley. In my business dealings with Peter I found him to be a highly competent and integrous builder before, during and after the building project and would be pleased to recommend him to anyone considering engaging his services.
My circumstances were these - in 2004 I formed a small consortium and purchased a double block in Tewantin to build 2 identical courtyard luxury style houses. The product was targeted at "empty nesters". That is middle-class "baby boomers" whose children had now grown up and left home but would come to visit perhaps with their children form time to time. Predictably they had sold their larger family home and wanted a new, smaller, low maintenance home in a holiday destination with luxury appointments and all the latest technology components, close to but not in the cafe precinct. The result was enthusiastically received by the target market and set a sales record for its locality. A product like this could not have been achieved without a builder like Peter with his fastidious attention to detail.
Like you, as part of the tendering process, I checked references. In that process I discovered that Peter had won more than 6 HIA awards for excellence and had worked with some highly regarded architects and building designers. Peter's price for the job was equal lowest. I chose to work with Peter because of his hands-on approach and his personality. Many times throughout the building program I was glad of my character assessment. As you may recall 2004-5 was a period of intense building activity, builders were offering ridiculous prices to trades just to finish projects. Peter was able to engage good quality trades people because of his reputation in the building industry. In casual conversations with the trades I found to a man they held Peter in high regard for his solid organisational ability, clear instructions and being a man of his word, not the least of which meant being paid promptly and without fuss. What this meant to me was good tradesman ship at reasonable prices.
Having a clear understanding of my brief, Peter spotted various missing details from the design and added some excellent suggestions based on similar projects he had previously constructed. When things went wrong, as they invariably do in building works, Peter was straight on to the problem, sorted out a solution and briefed me on the situation all within the hour. In my case it was an inadequate sump drain in the driveway intended to collect rain from the driveway. In practice far more rain came into the driveway than was anticipated causing the garages to be flooded. Peter organised for a sump pump to be installed and the problem was fixed. This occurred after completion. This is just one example of Peter's professionalism. What I appreciated is that regardless of who got it wrong, Peter took responsibility and got it sorted out in a no fuss kind of way. As a client I also appreciated that his communication was clear, timely and precise.
I am proud of what we achieved. The finished product was broadly praised by other local developers, the marketing agents and perspective buyers. It was featured in various home design magazines and on numerous occasions in the Noosa Journal and Weekender Noosa. If you are curious to see the finished product, I have a CD of photographs used in the marketing, which I am prepared to make available if you contact me.
I hope this rather lengthy recommendation covers all of the key considerations that a developer or designer would have in appointing a builder for the first time. I think your decision, like mine, is a pretty easy one the second time round.

Peter Curley has shown exceptional ability to construct 5 complex houses designed by JMA Architects on a steep slope on the old banana plantation backdrop to Hastings Street behind Noosa Heads. The five 'Bayview Homes' are part of the Viridian Project developed by Leighton Properties.
As he worked under pressure, with John Holland, with escalating costs and severe time constraints he remained cool at all times.
Even with all the difficulties and under fire, he was able to maintain a high standard of workmanship. Peter is always approachable and has the ability to interpret architectural drawings. Construction detailing was not usual building technology and as such, he rose to the task.
I have no hesitation on recommending his services.

Our team has worked successfully with Peter Curley on a number of projects on the Sunshine Coast over the years.
One such project was a two storey beach front residential development at No. 3 Beachside Court, Shelley Beach. Peter consistently displayed superior workmanship and managed all aspects of construction in an approachable and agreeable nature, which was conducive to a well polished product.
Our Principal Designer, Trevor Reitmsa has had opportunity to reside in the house constructed by Peter for a period of 6 months and remains very pleased with the construction, detailing and sustainability of the building as it reaches its 6th year.
We have no hesitation in highly recommending Peter Curley and his team.

Pete was our choice of builder for a major renovation project to our existing house at Bayview Rd, Little Cove at Noosa Heads.
We had previously been impressed with the standard of his workmanship in the Viridian stand alone houses in Bayview Rd, Little Cove. We chose him in front of several other local builders that we had used previously.
The project involved a budget close to $1.3 million. It took 15 months to complete and the finish and workmanship was second to none.
I would definitely recommend Pete. He is hard working, diligent and a meticulous builder that works to the highest standards.
